Travelling at near terminal velocity , hurtling towards the Bhotekoshi river, something that saves your life attached only on the feet, ankles and shoulder, it feels like the stuff of nightmares; but I did it the ultimate challenges, nothing beats than bungy Jumping at -The Last Resort.
(Our Team Ready for Jump after Basic Instruction by Crew) |
Eventually, after getting entry to the so called bridge of Terror, it feels like the wait is over after hours that we anticipated. The heart start pumping rapidly even just looking at other jumpers jumping. The crews taught us some basic safety instructions. I'm wearing the weird strappy harness thing, I literally feel it snug on my hips, legs and over shoulders. There's a dangling hook that flaps around while I was waiting.
The crews were instructing the next group, they're working with the deliberate speed, checking for safety as their jumper looks to them with their life on them. For the crew it's just another group of jumper but their voice is gentle and reassuring.
They've arranged the group according as the weight of jumpers in descendant order, so I'm the last one to make a journey to the River- luckily!!
(Posing over 160m high Bhotekoshi Bridge) |
Boys of my group started Jump off- some of them do swing, started with Ishwor and Pradip-swing and rest of us three are ready for bungy.
Yanks on my harness on few places, makes few small adjustments and checks on my hand. My weight and Jump number is marked on my hand in bright black which will help me to find my photos and videos at the office of The last Resort at Kathmandu, Thamel later, if I will survive....HAHA!!
I don't know, my heart either pumping rapidly or stops working. The crew member starts strapping all sorts of things on my feet, make me move outside the suspension cable as their slogans- "Walk like a Penguin, Fly like an Eagle & Dive like a Dolphin"-where I'm about to jump through the 160m deep George to meet my death or my complete elation and in the mind only one thing that's all gonna will bring me back alive?? Then crew said finally- one .....two....three....bungy....and after all, Free fall-this is happening, the wind is ripping through my hair. All the anxiety , fear, nervousness disappear for an instant of time.
(Jumping from the Bridge 160m high Bridge of Terror- Experiencing Free Fall) |
I Let go, I'm falling , completely Inverted, head down and feet up. I see the river below its coming to me So.....FAST!!
After a few minutes of swinging , the crew pull me back to the bridge. Blood is still running through my head. I'm scared finally at the bridge somehow fear is masked by this feeling of complete elation.
I look around with my friends and next jumpers and Yell out- "Yaaaaaa.......Whooooooo.......oooooooo". Completely, I'm back to the deck and celebrate my life again!!!
(With Ishwor- after Bungy/Swing at Entrance of the Bridge at The last Resort Office Side) |
I request you all to try this adventure once in your life time.
