one thing to say about hydroelectricity of nepal.........
The
economic progress of South Asia has been accelerated since a decade
ago . It is the outcome of the economic progress of East Asian countries
that put the rest of the Asian countries under pressure for
competition. In recent decades, the combined average economic growth
rate of this region exceeds 6 per cent per year. This needs a large
quantity of energy, making the region energy-starved.
The
potential of 83000MW hydro-power still remains untapped. The
development of this potentiality hangs over the mistrust, suspicion and
doubt throughout the region. For instance, it is deeper in Nepal over
the utilization of water for mutual benefit. Rivers either originating
in Tibet or in Nepal have a large potential for hydro-power, which could
be a boon if harnessed to meet the growing demand...
Advantages of Hydro power
Non- polluting, clean and environment friendly
A renewable source of energy
Cost of generation, operation and maintenance is lower than the other sources of energy
Ability to start and stop quickly and immediate load
acceptance/rejection makes it suitable to meet peak demand and for
enhancing system reliability and stability
Long operating life
Cost of generation is free from inflationary effects after the initial installation
Storage based hydro schemes provide benefits of flood control,
irrigation, drinking water supply, navigation, recreation, tourism and
aquaculture, and
Opening of avenues for development of remote and backward areas.
